Attending a Wedding from Across the Pond

It is a new time, with so many travel restrictions due to the Pandemic, the positives of technology, but TRUE LOVE still can be shared.  George and I enjoyed this very different experience watching our daughter Emily marry the man of her dreams in Scotland from our home in Westerville, Ohio.

Wedding Modifications:

  • Attendance was global

  • Virtual Maid of Honor and Virtual Best Man Prerecorded Toasts for Event (sister of the bride and brother of the groom…families already connecting)

  • Couple formed relationship with Pastor via zoom until the day before the wedding when they met in person

  • Virtual Maid of Honor created a Zoom call for friends to give best wishes as the bride got ready for the ceremony

  • Couple chatted with parents on their way to the church

  • When the couple returned to their amazing cottage after the ceremony,  they cut their cake (parents also had wedding cake that the couple had ordered for them) and repeated their wedding vows via zoom to a very private audience of their parents.  Mother of the groom and mother of the bride shared tears of happiness as the father of the groom was excited to have a new son.  As they were sitting in candlelight in a beautiful setting….I will never forget this moment in time.

Being Able to Change is the Key to a Happy Future!

I am learning to repeat this quote I heard a few years ago as I GROW UP.  At first I felt sad, as many friends and family shared they felt so sorry for us not to be with our daughter on her wedding day. We certainly lost sleep that day….time change, waiting for them to have those special moments to create their own memories, before they returned to us.  I must admit I did have tears but tears full of JOY and LOVE.
