Condo Fees VS Home Maintenance

Just recently I was touring a condo with clients when the topic of Condo Fees came up.  This particular developement seemed to have much higher fees than other communities we had toured in the last few months.  This neighborhood was surrounded by beautiful landscaping, golf greens, and open space but no amenities like a pool or restaurant.  My clients added up the total cost of the outside work they had experienced in the last year and divided the sum by 12.  This amount was more than the monthly condo fee.  

Going Home to Do Some “MATH”

I quickly went through some of our expenses from last year.  Snow removal, mowing, mulch, aeration and fertilizer, tree trimming and feeding, replacing the deck, painting some of the wood trim and stucco repair, replacing some outdoor lighting and roof……OH MY!  Most Condo fees look good to me.
