Interview a REALTOR and remember they are working for You.

Service is the key!  Do they always return calls and texts?  Ask them to review the steps to purchase.  LEARN the PROCESS. ASK questions!  Do not believe all you hear and see on social media, paper, friends, etc.  

Find an EXCELLENT Lender and remember they are working for You.

Do they answer their phone?  Communication is extremely key in this market!  After considering your finances, get a preapproval letter for the appropriate dollar amount.  Consider the costs of home ownership.  Know that you will most likely need to bid over the list price.  You may want to look at properties that are lower than what you are approved for.  

BE Patient...There will always be another property.

Don’t get too attached to any one house.  In this market you have to be flexible but still consider RESALE.  If you aren’t careful you may end up with an unintentional FOREVER HOME.  

Keep a JOURNAL of the process.  

You may be surprised at what you will learn if the process takes some time.   In this market, buyers often learn what they don’t like first and more importantly which features are the most important to them.
