Planning an Escape

George and I are discussing where and when is the best place to travel. We have had the pleasure to experience wonderful vacations and short getaways.   Unfortunately and sometimes fortunately we have two very different visions!

Ying and Yang...Together for 44 years!

Since the beginning of the Pandemic, we have now cancelled three trips which is not only disappointing but also risky as we hope to get our money back.  We are so getting tired of the same routine and scenery.  We need to escape!

George’s Critieria for an Escape Plan

  • He is a tourist.  He likes to see what others have seen for himself.

  • George also likes to be the first to see a place before anyone else has had the experience.

  • George likes to have a plan with a list of stops.

  • He needs to know exactly where he is going in the morning.

  • He would prefer staying somewhere one night and move on.

  • He enjoys local food as opposed to chains.

  • In new places, he enjoys taking bus tours so he can then revisit top interests.

Emma’s Criteria for an Escape

  • I enjoy creating a plan with flexible time to explore.

  • I prefer finding an Airbnb or interesting accommodation with a great view or in the center of a new city or town so I can walk and explore.  This location becomes a home.

  • I enjoy going on trips when George does all of the homework before we leave.

  • I enjoy trips with just the two of us and/or with old friends.

  • I enjoy family trips but the schedule certainly changes with ages of family members.

  • I love girl trips with my two best friends, Emily and Andi, our daughters. They do all of the planning. One of my favorite trips was seeing Paris but then traveling by train to  Beaune, a sub region of Burgundy.  We lived in a little apartment above an older building, enjoyed the wine country, walked to the market and best of all I had my girls all to myself.

  • As you probably discovered, I love the people as much as the new sight
