Secrets of A Successful Realtor

IMG_1440.jpg

Anyone that knows me would have to say I LOVE people.  Getting to know PEOPLE always comes first and the real estate transaction follows. ALWAYS and I don’t use the word ALWAYS or the word NEVER very often. I am currently working for three different families that are buying their third property with my help which is such a reward to me! They are great families that I truly enjoy working for as a REALTOR. I look forward to reconnecting and enjoy our time together.

Families First….Transactions Second

Story One

In talking with a new client coming to Ohio, he mentioned he was concerned that his son was extremely shy. It could be a challenge for him to meet new people.  During lunch I asked him about his son’s interests and hobbies.  He shared that his favorite group was “The Boston Symphony” and he played a clarinet.  The next day, I noticed there were tryouts for the Columbus Junior Symphony and there was time to register.  One month later, his son was in the symphony and had made numerous friends before school even started. The Transaction was completed.

Story Two

I met a family that had two very active young boys.  As we looked at so many homes over almost a year it seemed, I had to create a way to distract the boys so their parents could look at homes without distractions.  First game they enjoyed was playing “McDonald’s Drive Through”.  If the home had a kitchen island, I would pretend to take their orders and then serve the food over the counter in a make believe window. We took turns being customers or waiters.  A great trick was challenging them to do the Tree Pose from Yoga.  They had to stay in the same spot and be quiet. Where is the Basement,  Follow the Leader, Red Light, Green Light...the games we played. The Transaction followed.

Story Three

Client was reluctant to make the move unless their daughter was happy as she would be starting her senior year in high school.  Remembering  lunch duty in my first career as a teacher, I certainly could see the “new girl” standing in locker street or the hall during lunch as she had not found friends. After touring several schools with this family they choose schools for their children.  After I had made the suggestion, the daughter started practicing with the tennis team before school started. Their son had played traveling ice hockey.  Not knowing  anyone at the Chiller Ice Hockey Rink, I stopped by and got the name of the traveling coach.  And the father connected with the coach, son made the team, and the family move was looking good.  In fact later that year, the daughter mentored me for her Senior Project.  The Transaction was completed.
