Our Longest Physical Absence in the History of our Grandchildren

After reading an article in USA TODAY, “Through the mail, a visit from Grandma” written by Tony Rehagen, I was eager to introduce the excitement of sending and receiving a letter through the US Mail Service to our grandchildren.  As Eli and Evie live in California, George and I are reluctant to board a plane to fly West during the pandemic. We have not seen them since 12/25/19 when they were in Ohio.  It is difficult to hug, hold interest, and/or communicate with Face time.  Distance grand-parenting is certainly not how we ever envisioned it would be.

Getting Grandpa on Board

As most children of this generation are almost born with some type of technology in their hands, an envelope, postage stamp, flag on the mailbox...all may seem new.  After making my point, George decided this could be a great teaching moment. We did compose our letters on the computer so we could print to help make it easier for the children to read.  George made an early trip to the mailbox to make sure our mail was picked up.

The CRAZIEST TEXT

I had texted Andi to let her know what was coming and a copy of the article that we had read from the paper.  In just a few minutes, she replied that Evie and Eli had just mailed us a letter.

So who is the most excited to go to the mailbox now?

  REAL ESTATE UPDATE

Times are changing!  I am selling properties without clients actually seeing or walking through before closing.  I think this is more scary for me than the homeowners.  Just bringing some more BUCKEYES to Ohio.  Stay Safe!
