Working on MOVING the GRINCH Out of MY HEART

Do I Have the Energy?

-YanokFamily-395.jpg

Decking the halls at my house takes some time...a lot of time and energy!  As I chatted with my neighbor, the process could be much easier if we repeated the same decor each year but we both have those creative minds.  When all is done, I enjoy the new look, compliments from guests, and my children coming home to what they consider A Home for the Holidays without any disappointment.

Getting the Spirit for Christmas 2020

Just like many families during 2020, we are all extra tired from the Pandemic, illness and from losing family members.  Sooooo, I was really having some trouble finding the energy and desire.  Knowing our two grandchildren who have added so much excitement and energy to our holidays would be staying home in California also reminded me of some new/old  traditions that could be lost this year.  I never, ever thought I would have blown up animals and characters in my backyard...never the front yard until I knew Eli and Evie looked forward to a new addition each year.  I had  kept the Village that Emily and Andi, our daughters,  enjoyed setting up in the boxes until Eli and Evie were born. And then motivated by them watching Santa fly over the Village and skiers flying down the snow mountain, I eagerly took the time to set up every piece.

So the Christmas Spirit Hit Me

This is the year I need to help spread the cheer. As soon as Emily and Adrian came home from NYC, I shared I might not spend as much time decorating.  One look from Emily….reminiscing how much we enjoy sitting by the fireplace enjoying the festive and peaceful rooms...talking about baking to fill boxes to send to her friends...I was CURED.  And then there were calls and photos from Andi, asking for my advice to decorate her home.  I caught the spirit….Love these girls...near and far.

This is the YEAR WE NEED to Add some Cheer

Walking through our neighborhood, I have noticed more lights, more greens, and lots of ribbons.  I notice more smiles even though they are behind masks.  Time to Celebrate and be Thankful.

Happy Holidays to All.
